My journey began in Mumbai, India, a city that produces over eight hundred films a year from human stories. Soaking that in daily triggered a fascination for storytelling. I found stories everywhere: in a market research internship, writing street-food reviews for city guides and even while studying philosophy at school - I was more interested in the philosophers lives than their positions.
After school I worked at Star News Asia, learning to tell real-people stories and then studied film at Columbia University to develop the skills to write a children’s novel called ‘Screams in the Night’ that was published in 2004 and a screenplay ‘Jamal’ which got me some meetings at LA studios but….. Adland in NYC pulled me in.
Advertising took me on a joyride across brands, media channels and shoots on practically every continent. JWT was my first home and I learned everything about commercial production working on Diageo, Macy's, Jet Blue, De Beers, Rolex and Cadbury among others.
In 2010, as the agency landscape shifted, I volunteered for digital projects picking up new tools. Our team developed a YouTube channel video game and then an AR application that won a Gold Lion at Cannes in 2013.
In 2014 I went to work at Facebook's Creative Shop, which collaborates with global brands and agencies to make effective advertising on Facebook and Instagram. I spent my days crafting ideas to life in mobile-first ways, guiding a team of fantastic producers, sharpening our business development tools and strengthening client relationships. The best part was getting to oversee production across live action video, 360 video, animation, messenger bots, FB Lives, photography, illustrations and collections videos.
2017 brought me to San Francisco and to Creative X at Facebook. In this role I continued to lead a team of producers, but this time focus on the Facebook (now Meta) brand as it relates to consumers. This role has helped me explore new ways to carry strategy and creative goals into all forms of executions and grow the careers of other producers. Every day I learn more, my journey continues...
